Specialized care for women
Many women experience gynecologic problems and pelvic floor issues that they feel embarrassed about—such as accidental urine or bowel leakage (incontinence), pelvic pain, menstrual problems, endometriosis and others. But these issues happen more often than most people think; in fact, urinary incontinence affects between 30 and 50 percent of women over the course of their lifetime. These common problems can be treated with help from the right expert.
Deborah Lehmann, MD, FPMRS is a board-certified urogynecologist at Artesia General Hospital. She provides consultation, comprehensive evaluation and surgical treatments for women with pelvic floor conditions. Dr. Lehmann prides herself on partnering closely with her patients, and emphasizes personalized attention in order to create a customized treatment plan that works for each woman.
Many urogynecological problems result from damage to the pelvic floor caused by childbirth, very heavy lifting on a regular basis, chronic coughing, severe constipation or obesity. Following appropriate evaluation, a range of treatment options may be recommended—from physical therapy and lifestyle modifications to medications or surgical intervention.
Dr. Lehmann seeks conservative options whenever possible—but for cases where surgery is necessary, she specializes in minimally invasive techniques and surgical alternatives to hysterectomy. Almost all of these surgeries can be accomplished with a quick recovery and no overnight hospitalization.
Dr. Lehmann treats patients of all ages, with a special interest in the gynecologic problems of older women. To make an appointment, call 575.736.8495 or request an appointment online and we will respond to you within one business day.
