    Cardiopulmonary Services

    Respiratory therapists are specially trained healthcare professionals who work closely with physicians, nurses and other specialists to address and provide a wide range of breathing treatments and other services for illnesses, such as:

    • asthma
    • obstructive pulmonary disease
    • bronchitis
    • asthma
    • cystic fibrosis
    • lung cancer

    At AGH the Respiratory Therapy Department provides care to patients of all ages, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.   

    From diagnosis to chronic lung disease management to post-treatment care, our innovative care and treatment for acute and chronic lung disease is unmatched in the area.  We do this through our commitment to stay at the forefront of innovations.

    We provide both inpatient and outpatient treatment, including:

    • Invasive and Noninvasive Ventilation Therapy
    • Aerosol Therapy
    • Bronchodilator Therapy
    • Pulmonary Hygiene Therapy
    • Oxygen Therapy
    • Arterial Blood Gas Analysis
    • Chest Physiotherapy

    Our cardiopulmonary team can manage the care necessary for heart disease using the latest therapies and technology.  Diagnostic services include:

    • 12-Lead Electrocardiogram (EKG)
    • Cardiac Holter Monitoring
    • Cardiac Exercise & Nuclear Stress Testing
    • Ambulatory Overnight Pulse Oximetry Monitoring
    • Pulmonary Function Testing
    • Pulmonary Rehabilitation

    All our respiratory care practitioners are licensed by the State of New Mexico and credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care Practitioners.

    Our Respiratory Therapy Department and Pathology Laboratory, is certified by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).  Artesia General Hospital is proud of this prestigious accreditation and is the only hospital in Southeastern New Mexico to be CAP certified.
