Dr. Amara Abid, DPM, is not only a highly skilled podiatric physician but also someone deeply committed to helping her patients live healthier, more comfortable lives. Specializing in foot and ankle care, her expertise ranges from everyday ailments like bunions and plantar fasciitis to more complex issues such as limb salvage and diabetic wound care. Her focus is always on finding the best possible solutions for her patients.
A Path of Academic Excellence
Dr. Abid’s journey in medicine started with a passion for science and a genuine desire to help others. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Toronto, later pursuing additional degrees at CUNY College of Staten Island, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Science in Biology. She went on to complete her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the prestigious New York College of Podiatric Medicine, building a strong foundation in the medical field.
Extensive Residency and Training
Her residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn was a pivotal part of her career. As Chief Resident, Dr. Abid worked with a diverse patient base, treating everything from traumatic foot injuries to congenital deformities. Her rotations across multiple hospitals—like Kings County Hospital and Mount Sinai—gave her hands-on experience in a wide range of foot and ankle conditions. Whether it’s a diabetic patient in need of limb salvage or a child born with a foot deformity, Dr. Abid is well-equipped to handle the challenge.
Commitment to Advanced Care
Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Abid also holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care. She’s deeply invested in ensuring that her patients avoid unnecessary surgeries or complications by focusing on preventative care and long-term management. Her research in foot ulcers and innovative treatment methods for chronic osteomyelitis demonstrates her ongoing commitment to advancing care in her field.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Abid enjoys spending time in her garden and staying active through sports like badminton, tennis, and volleyball. She balances her dedication to medicine with these hobbies, allowing her to stay grounded and refreshed.
