    Nutrition Services and Diabetes Education

Susan Dade, RD, LD, CDCES has more than 40 years of experience supporting Artesia and Carlsbad community members with nutrition services and diabetes education. With compassion for every person’s unique situation, Susan partners with her patients to create a customized plan that fits their daily routine, medical needs and wellness goals.

Jordan Fuentes, RDN is the newest member of our Nutrition Service team and provides services at Artesia General Hospital.

    Nutrition Services

Susan and Jordan provides comprehensive nutrition services to all people. They support individuals living with challenges such as high cholesterol, chronic kidney disease and diverticulitis, as well as those who are looking to improve their lifestyle or lose weight.

Susan and Jordan understand that healthy eating can be hard to adopt. They take the time to learn about each patient—including their values, habits, schedule and interests—and uses that information to create a manageable plan that helps them reach their optimal health.

Counseling is available for all nutrition-related issues:

    • Celiac disease
    • Chronic kidney disease (renal)
    • Diverticulitis
    • Failure to thrive
    • High blood pressure
    • High cholesterol
    • Obesity
    • Pre-bariatric surgery

    Diabetes Education

Susan provides care for people with prediabetes, type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

A majority of people with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes don’t know they have it. When they feel unwell or tired, they may think it’s because of other life stresses. But there is a window of time for people who are newly diagnosed with diabetes to reverse a diagnosis.

Susan is passionate about creating a welcoming and judgement-free environment where her patients can get the education, tools and encouragement they need to stay on top of their diagnosis. If you’re newly diagnosed or trying to keep your diabetes in check, don’t wait—reach out today.
