    Employee Spotlight: Harriet Akowuah, MBA-HCA

    We’re pleased to shine the spotlight on our new Food & Nutrition Services Director, Harriet Akowuah. She joined Artesia General Hospital (AGH) in the spring of 2024. Harriet answered a few questions about her role, including the most meaningful advice she has received and what she likes to do outside of work.

    What inspires and motivates you to work in healthcare?
    Getting to be a part of a team that saves lives by prioritizing the needs and desires of our patients and customers.

    Can you briefly describe what your role at Artesia General Hospital entails?
    My role at AGH in a nutshell is to oversee all aspects of the organization’s nutrition guidelines and initiatives. I provide leadership and supervision in implementing a food service program that focuses on customer satisfaction, nutritional integrity and product quality.

    What is the most rewarding part of your job?
    Getting positive feedback from my patients and customers about the services provided by my department.

    What is something you want patients and their loved ones to know when it comes to AGH?
    AGH has a very dedicated administrative and leadership team that puts a lot of focus on patient-centered care and experiences.

    What is the most meaningful piece of feedback/advice you’ve received in your career (from a patient, colleague, manager, etc.)?
    The most meaningful advice I have received that helps me in all things is “you achieve greatness when you help others to become great.”

    What three words would you use to describe yourself?
    Passionate, resourceful and cheerful.

    What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
    I love to cook for friends and family, and I enjoy watching movies.
