Overview
Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center
An outpatient department of Artesia General Hospital, our center provides compassionate care for chronic or complicated wounds. If your wound hasn’t healed in four weeks, it may require specialized treatment.
We take a team approach to wound care. Our specialists collaborate to understand the root causes of your wound and create a custom treatment plan. This includes advanced therapies like Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).
We are proud to offer the area’s first hyperbaric chambers to help support successful healing.
We monitor progress on a weekly basis and change treatment direction as needed to achieve the best outcome and promote healing. We will also give you detailed instructions on how to care for your wound at home.
Once the wound is healed, our team will work with you to develop a plan to help keep the wound from recurring
You may benefit from wound care if you have:
- A sore that hasn’t healed in many weeks (such as a skin ulcer)
- Pain, redness, swelling, or odor at the wound site
- Complications or infections from a surgical wound
Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Our wound care team may recommend hyperbaric oxygen therapy as one part of your customized treatment plan—and Artesia General Hospital is proud to have the only hyperbaric oxygen chambers in the region.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy promotes healing by increasing the amount of oxygen in your body tissue. This is done by entering a slightly pressurized, oxygen-rich environment (called a hyperbaric oxygen chamber) for a set amount of time. While each plan differs, most patients can usually expect a series of two-hour sessions held multiple times per week for maximum healing.
Transportation Services at Artesia General Hospital
Artesia General Hospital offers transportation for non-emergency medical appointments. Our wheelchair-accessible vans and friendly, certified drivers will pick you up right at your door and take you to any Artesia General Hospital campus.
Rides are available Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., only to and from Artesia General Hospital locations. Payment is required when you schedule your ride.
Please note: Our drivers cannot assist passengers with leaving their homes.

What is a chronic wound?
Most wounds heal easily within a few weeks. A chronic wound fails to respond to treatment after four weeks or doesn’t heal completely in two months. Frequently, these are wounds associated with burns, post-operative infections, radiation or ulcers.
