From Artesia to the ER โ A Local Story Worth Celebrating
Jessica is not just a healthcare professional โ she is a neighbor and a community member. She is a familiar face to many of the patients she serves.
She previously served as secretary and then president for the AHS Boys Soccer team booster club. Jessica was also a teaching assistant at Grand Heights and a substitute teacher for Artesia Public Schools. This was prior to her going back to school in pursuit of her nursing degree.
Jessica graduated from NMSU Carlsbad in May 2021 with an Associate of Science in Nursing. After earning her New Mexico nursing license, Jessica launched her career right here at Artesia General Hospital โ and she never left.
She began as an ER Technician, quickly advanced to Registered Nurse, and most recently served as ER Day Shift Charge Nurse. At every step, she chose Artesia. That commitment means something to us, and it means something to this community as she steps into this new role as Emergency Department Director.
A Clinician Built for the Emergency Department
Jessica brings a remarkable depth of clinical skill to her new role as Artesia General Hospital Emergency Department Director. She holds multiple certifications including Critical Care through the Air Methods Ascend Program, Ultrasound-guided IV insertion and PICC line placements. She is also currently pursuing her Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) designation. Additional certifications include BLS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, PALS, and Critical Care.
At Artesia General Hospital, Jessica has served as a preceptor for new graduate nurses. She was named Charge Nurse in 2023 and has consistently led her team with both clinical confidence and genuine compassion.
What This Promotion Means for Artesia
Artesia General Hospital is a 25-bed nonprofit community hospital with a mission to serve the people of southeastern New Mexico. Having a director who grew up here, trained here, and has built her career here reflects that mission in the most authentic way possible. Jessica understands what it means to walk through our Emergency Department doors not just as a clinician, but as a member of this community. That perspective shapes the kind of care our patients receive โ and the kind of leader she will be.
Congratulations, Jessica
Please join Artesia General Hospital in congratulating Jessica Scoggin on this well-earned promotion as Emergency Department Director. We are proud of her accomplishments, grateful for her commitment to Artesia, and excited about the future of our Emergency Department under her leadership.
