Emergency Medical Transport Expands with Native Air 24
Emergency Medical Transport Services at Artesia General Hospital have just taken a major leap forward with the arrival of Native Air 24, a brand-new EC130 T2 helicopter base. This expansion solidifies AGH’s role as a regional hub for critical care.
Faster Response Times for Critical Emergencies
With Native Air 24 based at AGH, first responders and emergency teams can call for advanced care and have it arrive quickly. The flight nurses and paramedics—trained through the Air Methods Ascend program—carry whole blood and a full range of life-saving medications. In effect, the EC130 T2 becomes a “flying ICU,” ready to treat trauma, stroke, heart attack, burn, or pediatric patients immediately, whether at the scene or in flight to a specialized center.
State-of-the-Art Air Medical Unit
The EC130 T2 is designed for safety and efficiency. Its spacious cabin holds all critical-care equipment. Clinicians have room to work comfortably. This helicopter fits one stretcher patient and two medical attendants. Built-in mounts for liquid oxygen, suction, and life-support systems turn it into a true flying ICU. Advanced avionics and safety systems protect patients and crew. Its hot-and-high performance ensures reliable operation across New Mexico’s varied terrain. Native Air’s EC130 T2 is available 24/7. It delivers critical care whenever and wherever needed. “Native Air is mission-ready whenever and wherever our services are needed,” says Jim Burt, Sales Director for Air Methods.
A Partnership Rooted in Community Needs
“This new base shows our commitment to this community,” says Dr. Joe Salgado, CEO of Artesia General Hospital. “Our nursing and ED teams asked for faster air transport, and Native Air listened. Now, families across southeastern New Mexico can access life-saving care closer to home.” From interfacility transfers to remote rescues, this collaboration strengthens AGH’s ability to serve every patient.
Keeping Care Affordable and Accessible with Emergency Medical Transport
Native Air works with most major insurers, and its patient advocacy program helps all patients manage costs—regardless of coverage. Seamlessly integrated with AGH’s Emergency Services, Native Air 24 extends our trauma and critical-care workflows.
