    Mammos for Mentors: Celebrating Educators

Mammos for Mentors Offers Special Screening Day for Artesia Teachers

Supporting Those Who Support Our Future

At Artesia General Hospital, caring for the community means honoring the people who shape it every day. Yesterday, we proudly hosted Mammos for Mentors, a special event dedicated to the incredible teachers of Artesia Public Schools. This one-day experience was designed to make it easier for busy educators to prioritize their health—offering convenient, compassionate mammogram screenings in a setting that celebrated everything they do for our community.

Educators give so much of themselves—nurturing young minds, guiding families, and helping to build a stronger tomorrow. They often work long hours, spend weekends preparing for the week ahead, and rarely take time to care for themselves. That’s why Mammos for Mentors was created: to make preventive healthcare more accessible for our teachers, especially during the school year when free time is limited.

By offering Saturday appointments, we hoped to make it just a little easier for these dedicated professionals to take a moment for their own well-being.

Participants were welcomed with refreshments, and a calm, supportive atmosphere. Our radiology team provided state-of-the-art 3D mammograms, making the experience as quick and comfortable as possible.

“This event is about more than just providing a screening—it’s about showing our teachers that their health matters, too.” – Roy Thomas, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Artesia General Hospital.

Mammograms Save Lives—And Shouldn’t Be Delayed

Artesia NM MammogramRoutine mammograms are one of the most effective tools in the fight against breast cancer. The American College of Radiology recommends that women at average risk begin annual screenings at age 40, with earlier screenings for those with higher risk factors such as family history or genetic predisposition.

Breast cancer that’s caught early is far more treatable—mammograms can often detect changes before symptoms develop, which means better outcomes and more options for care.

At AGH, our 3D mammography technology provides highly detailed images that improve accuracy and reduce unnecessary callbacks, giving patients greater peace of mind with less disruption to their lives.

Mammos for Mentors, A Continued Commitment to Our Community

Mammos for Mentors is just one of many ways AGH is working to make preventive care more community-centered, flexible, and supportive. Events like these reflect our larger mission: to meet people where they are, remove barriers to care, and ensure every individual—especially those who give so much to others—has access to the services they need.

We were honored to work alongside Artesia Public Schools to make this event a reality. The response from educators was heartwarming, and we’re hopeful that this becomes an annual tradition to continue uplifting those who uplift others.

Thank You, Artesia Teachers for joining us for Mammos for Mentors

To all the educators who joined us—we’re grateful for your presence, your commitment, and your trust in AGH. Your role in our community is immeasurable, and we’re proud to support your health, just as you support our students every single day.
