What does your role at Artesia General Hospital entail?
My role as a patient advocate is to help facilitate communication among the patient, their family and the healthcare team to provide the best outcome for their health.
How did you get into patient advocacy?
My personal life experience highlights a common and powerful motivation for entering the field of advocacy.
What do you look forward to most in your role?
Connecting with people and having the opportunity to help them in their healthcare journey.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Knowing I have worked my hardest to provide our patients with the best outcomes possible.
What is something you want patients and their loved ones to know when it comes to patient advocacy support?
Don’t hesitate to seek clarification if you don’t understand something. We are here for you as a healthcare team, and we will do whatever we can to help.
What is one of the most important lessons you’ve learned from a person or experience?
Everyone has a story. My greatest lesson has been that life can change in the blink of an eye. That is why it is so important to love others and do what you can to help people in their journey.
What stands out to you about the culture at Artesia General Hospital?
The culture at AGH is awesome! I am honored to be a part of the healthcare team here. Each and every person is striving to make our patient experience the best that it can be.
What do you love most about our community?
I have lived in Artesia most of my life. Our community is unlike any other. The abundant outpouring of love and support our community gives is unbelievable! My kids and I have felt this firsthand as we experienced unexpected, heartbreaking life events. We have been surrounded by love and support. I can never thank our community enough for all that they have done for my children and me. I will forever be grateful!
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Kind, funny and strong (even when I didn’t believe I was).
What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
I have two amazing, smart, beautiful, loving kids. They are my life! I love spending time with them and watching them participate in their sporting events. I also love to bake!
