Community Health Needs Assessment

Every three years, Artesia General Hospital (AGH) conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA)—a careful review that identifies the most important health needs in our region. A CHNA gathers community input, health data, and feedback from local organizations to highlight health challenges, find gaps in care, and help set future priorities. This ensures that AGH and our partners are making the biggest difference possible for Eddy County and southeastern New Mexico.

The 2025 community health survey was conducted from January 13 to February 7, 2025. It was distributed online and promoted through multiple channels, collecting responses from residents across Eddy County, including groups that are often underserved. In March 2025, AGH hosted community summits in Artesia and Carlsbad, where local leaders and residents discussed the survey results and helped select the top health priorities for the coming years.

“Our task is simple: deliver world-class care to our neighbors in Artesia and Southeast New Mexico,”

Our Plan Moving Forward

To address these needs, Artesia General Hospital is working with community partners to expand access, promote healthy lifestyles, increase health education, and remove barriers to care. This includes raising awareness about available services, improving convenience for patients, supporting preventive care, and connecting residents with resources for financial assistance. AGH will continue to develop programs, partnerships, and outreach activities that support long-term health and wellness for everyone in Eddy County.

Community Health Needs Assessment Impact

Recent improvements guided by past assessments include the opening of a behavioral health clinic, new community education efforts, and more support for patients needing help with healthcare costs. AGH is committed to ongoing progress and working together with local organizations to build a healthier community.
