Celebrating Extraordinary Care: Alejandra Chavarria Named Daisy Award Honoree
At Artesia General Hospital, we believe exceptional nursing care is defined not only by clinical skill, but by compassion, empathy, and the ability to connect with patients on a human level. Today, we’re proud to recognize a nurse who truly embodies all of these qualities: Alejandra Chavarria, our latest Daisy Award recipient.
The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that honors the extraordinary compassion and clinical excellence nurses bring to their patients every day. Established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, whose family was deeply moved by the care he received from nurses during his illness, the DAISY Award recognizes those who go above and beyond in delivering exceptional care. It serves as a meaningful reminder of the powerful impact nurses have on patients and families — not just through their skills, but through their kindness, empathy, and dedication.
Alejandra has built a reputation among her patients for being incredibly kind, attentive, and calming. Her ability to put others at ease — even in the most stressful moments — stands out in every piece of feedback we receive. Time and again, patients describe her as someone who goes above and beyond to ensure they feel safe, heard, and comfortable throughout their care.
One patient shared, “She always made sure I was comfortable. She explained everything she was going to do and made me feel at peace each visit.” Another wrote, “Alejandra is always kind and helpful. She explained everything clearly to both me and my wife so we could understand. She makes me feel welcome every single time.”
What sets Alejandra apart isn’t just her professionalism — it’s her personal touch. From taking the time to answer every question, to remembering patient birthdays and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere, she demonstrates what true patient-centered care looks like. As one grateful patient put it, “She’s always paid attention to my health and done her best to make sure I was alright. I truly appreciate her.”
It’s worth mentioning that even patients who admit to being “a chicken” about IVs have found comfort and trust in Alejandra’s capable hands — with one patient noting she “gets it on the first try 99% of the time!”
We couldn’t be more honored to celebrate Alejandra Chavarria as a Daisy Award Honoree. Her warmth, compassion, and clinical excellence make a lasting impact on every patient she meets.
Congratulations, Alejandra — and thank you for representing the very best of Artesia General Hospital.
