    DAISY Award: Honoring Exceptional Nurses

    DAISY Award: Honoring Exceptional Nurses

Artesia General Hospital has launched the DAISY Award, a global program that honors nurses for their extraordinary care and compassion. This award highlights those who go above and beyond to support and heal their patients.

    What Is the DAISY Award?

The DAISY Foundation created the award in 1999 to honor Patrick Barnes. During his hospital stay for an autoimmune disease, Patrick’s nurses showed incredible kindness and skill. Deeply moved, his family started the DAISY Foundation to recognize nurses who make a difference.

At Artesia General Hospital, the DAISY Award will spotlight nurses who provide exceptional care and demonstrate empathy and dedication. Patients, families, and staff can nominate these nurses for their outstanding service.

    Why the DAISY Matters

Nurses play a vital role in every healthcare setting. They care for patients, comfort families, and support the healing process. The DAISY Award ensures we recognize and celebrate their impact.

By honoring great nurses, Artesia General Hospital fosters a culture of appreciation. This recognition boosts morale, encourages teamwork, and inspires continued excellence in patient care.

    How the Award Works

Here’s how the nomination and selection process works:

    • Submit a Nomination: Patients, families, or staff members fill out a nomination form to recognize a nurse who delivered exceptional care.

    • Review and Selection: A panel reviews the nominations and selects one nurse who best represents the DAISY mission.

    • Honor the Nurse: Artesia General Hospital hosts a special ceremony to celebrate the nurse. The winner receives a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved sculpture symbolizing compassion.

To nominate a nurse, visit the DAISY Award nomination page. Provide the nurse’s name, department, and a detailed explanation of their compassionate care. After you submit the form, the DAISY committee will review it and contact the nominee if selected.
